Germany is famous for its food and drinks. But, your visit to Germany is incomplete without taking a sip of German beers and wines. There is something special for every event and preference. German Mulled Wine

Mulled wine is a real Christmas Drink in Germany and is also called Gluhwein. This occasional drink is of fruit wine and served with spiced cookie or cake. The spice drink has red wine with mulling spice.

Ingredients

  • Red wine
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • cardamom pods
  • nutmeg
  • whole cloves
  • allspice

Add some liquor, spiced rum, or brandy. Mulled wine is prepared with white wine like Riesling or Gruner Veltliner. Heat it over the medium-low flame till the spices leave fragrance. After 20 minutes of heating, serve the mulled wine in a pot.

Eierlikör

German Eierlikor marks the sign of gift during Christmas or Easter. All you need is patience before consuming it. The drink takes time to come up with perfect aroma and get soft. Well, the excitement for Eierlikor does not let the patients stay for long.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup cream
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 1 vanilla bean (split lengthwise)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vodka

Collect all ingredients, heat milk, vanilla bean, and cream sugar to 160 degree F. Mix egg yolks with milk in a thin stream and stir it over a low flame and then remove it. Cool it down, add alcohols and mix it well. Pour through a sieve in a large cup or through a funnel in a clean bottle. Discard vanilla beans and refrigerate it overnight before drinking it.

Radler

Radler is among the most refreshing cocktails that require no extra efforts. It is a unique blend of the exquisite Blonde lager and the charismatic lemonade with a slight touch of citrus flavored soda. You can add grapefruit syrup instead of lemon. Now, it will taste more like a sweet juice with a melody of honey.

Ingredients

  • Take 1 bottle (375 ml) chilled sour beer (you can go with Almanac Citra Sour)
  • 1 piece (3 inches by 1 inch)
  • 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice

Mix water, honey, grapefruit peel, and rosemary in a saucepan. Heat it at medium flame and leave it to get dissolve with sugar. Boil it till the syrup reduces to two-thirds for at least 15 minutes. Let it get cool after removing from heat. Take out the syrup in a glass, cover it and then shake it.

Apfelschorle (other Saftschorle)

Apfelschorle is a German drink with a blend of apple juice and mineral water. This light drink is not as sweet as pure juice, but it is refreshing. Among all non-alcoholic drink, this apple juice is easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz. apple juice (1/2 U.S. cup or 120 ml)
  • 4 oz. soda water or sparkling water (1/2 U.S. cup or 120 ml)

Add ice to a glass. Then pour sparkling water and apple juice to it. Mix it well. Depending upon your choice adjust the ratio of apple juice to water to make it more or less sweeter/ concentrated.

Schorle

Schorle is the first name that comes to mind while thinking of a non-alcoholic German drink. The beautiful blend of favorite juices and sparkling water combination is available in every restaurant, café, and bar. The water is rich in calcium, magnesium, and potassium that are important for re-hydration during hot summer months.

Ingredients

  • 1 part wine or juice
  • 1 part of sparkling mineral water

Mix all ingredients well. Adjust the ratio as per your preference- like 1:1, some 1:2, and 1:3.

Shandy

Shandy is a refreshing German drink and an awesome treat to enjoy on hot days. It is a combination of lemonade and beer and is a cheering way to embellish the average glass of beer. The average shandy has equal parts of beer and lemonade although these ratios can vary. You may want to add white beer or choose to go with more while mixing with a light lager. Prepare the one that suits your choice.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces lemonade
  • 6 ounces beer
  • Garnish: lemon slice

Collect all ingredients. Fill the glass half-way with beer and use the other half to fill lemonade. Garnish the glass with a lemon slice.

Kinderpunsch

Kinderpunsch is an alcohol-free drink for kids and adults. It is a combination of German Fruit tea and fruit extracts. It is a red colored sweet and sour drink with a sprint of spices when presented hot it gives a fresh feel.

Ingredients

  • Add 2 cups of apple juice
  • Take 2 cups of orange juice
  • Mix half cup of cherry juice (depending upon your choice substitute it with more orange or apple juice)
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 2 cups of water
  • Take 2 sticks of cinnamon
  • Honey to taste
  • 2 anise (whole star)
  • 5 bags of hibiscus tea ( use 5 teaspoons loose dried petals of hibiscus)

Boil all ingredients in a pot before adding honey and tea. Reduce the flame and simmer it for 15 minutes. Then add tea bags and leave it for at least 10 minutes. Take away the tea bags and mix honey in it. Serve it hot. Garnish with orange slices, cinnamon stick, or star anise.

German Iced Chocolate

German Iced Chocolate is a quite hot cold chocolate splash over ice-cream and topped with whipped cream. Best to take in afternoons and is going to bring water in your mouth.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 cup of hot chocolate
  • Whipped Cream
  • Two scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Chocolate Shavings or Chocolate Syrup as a garnish

Prepare the hot chocolate and let it get cool at room temperature. Mix two scoops of vanilla ice cream in the glass. Pour the cool chocolate. Top it with whipped cream and put drizzle chocolate all over the layer.

Grog

Grog is known as sailors drink as originally they used it for stretching their ratio of rum. The lime juice made rum helps to fight against scurvy. The drink has all fun elements with it.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Dark Rum
  • 1 oz water
  • .75 ozlime juice
  • .5 oz Demerara Syrup

Add ice to a tiki mug. Put all the ingredients in it and mix it well to combine.

Spezi

Spezi is a favorite mocktail with a blend of cola and orange soda. If you are new to the drink, you are going to appreciate it for its taste.

Ingredients

  • (12 ounces) cans orange soda (Fanta)
  • lemon, quartered (or cut into six wedges)
  • (12 ounces) cans cola (Coca-Cola)

Mix equal parts of orange soda and cola. Crush the juice of lemon wedge in every glass. Serve it at room temperature and you can also prefer it over ice.
